Democrats have a different idea about bipartisanship

Bipartisanship with Democrats means this: If you don't "bi" into our agenda, you can say good "bi" to our cooperation.

Local television news a shadow of its past

As a former TV executive in the 1990's, I recall the hustle and bustle of the TV newsroom in the morning. There were a half dozen reporters equipped with a cameraman getting their assignments for the day and heading out into the local community to generate local news stories and hurry back to the station to edit the footage and package the story to have it on air at 5 and 6.

Today, some are worse than others, but they drag stories off the Internet that have nothing to do with our local community. Car wrecks in Dallas. A skunk with a jar on its head in Milwaukee. A cow loose in traffic in Denver. They employ a fraction of the reporters and cameramen they used to.

The glory years of local TV have come and gone. I wonder how long till they are totally replaced.

Long live the local newspaper.
