ROGERS -- One good inning was enough for Rogers against Springdale Har-Ber on Thursday.
Rogers broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fifth inning and defeated the Lady Wildcats 3-0 Thursday in 7A-West Conference softball at Veterans Park. Courtney Storey lined a run-scoring double in the inning when Rogers (12-7, 6-1) collected three hits and was helped by three errors from the Lady Wildcats.

Sadie Beeman threw a one-hitter and preserved the shutout by working out of a bases-loaded situation with no outs in the sixth. Beeman faced the middle of the order after Hailey Houston led off with a single followed by consecutive errors from the Lady Mounties.
Beeman kept her poise and retired three consecutive batters on two strikeouts and a pop out to short. She finished with nine strikeouts and walked only one batter.
"Sadie's a senior and there's nothing new under the sun for her," Rogers coach Mike Harper said. "She's all-state and she proved why again today. She hit her spots and pitched great all game long."
Har-Ber (2-5, 8-10) made a bid to take the lead in the fourth inning but was turned away by two standout defensive plays by the Lady Mounties. Gabbie Smith drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a groundout. Journalee Zito stopped a hard grounder at third base and threw to first before Jadyn Heinle ended the inning with a diving catch in right field.
"Journalee's coming off an injury (concussion) and she had been out for a while," Harper said. "But she made a great backhand play there and, of course, Jadyn made a great play over there in right. That's a double or triple if it gets by her. As long as we play good defense, fundamentally, we're going to be all right."

Freshman McKenzie Vaughan threw her first no-hitter, then had a home run and four RBIs as Bentonville rolled to a three-inning victory over host Fayetteville.
Vaughan (3-1) threw only 36 pitches -- 28 for strikes -- and struck out four. Her only blemish came in the second inning when she issued a one-out walk to Shalin Charles on a 3-2 pitch.
The Lady Tigers (19-2, 8-0) led 5-0 after one inning, then turned the game into a rout with an 11-run outburst in the second. Vaughan capped the big inning with her two-run home run.
Morgan Nelson added two hits and drove in three runs, while Tymber Riley had two hits and two RBIs.

Honesty Holt had a home run and a pair of doubles and finished with three RBIs as West held off Van Buren at the Wolverine Athletic Complex.
Holt gave the Lady Wolverines (15-6, 5-2) their first run when her double drove in Hallie Wacaser, who singled in the first inning. She added another RBI double in the third after another Wacaser single, then she added a solo home run to cap a three-run fourth.
Wacaser finished with four hits and also drove in two runs, while Anna Griffin had two hits and two RBIs as West finished with 14 hits. Emma Wood went the distance and struck out 11 batters, while two of the six runs the Lady Wolverines allowed were earned.

Alexa Enos had two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice to lead the Lady War Eagles to the five-inning 7A-West Conference win Thursday afternoon.
Kayla Paulo picked up the win in the circle, allowing a run (unearned) on three hits. She struck out six and did not walk a batter. Heritage (10-6, 4-3 7A-West) banged out 12 hits.
