Argentina’s senators take their places Wednesday in Buenos Aires ahead of a debate on legislation that would decriminalize abortion in the country. The bill would allow girls as young as 13 to terminate pregnancies for any reason within the first 14 weeks of term. The measure passed in the Argentine house in June.

Argentina on Wednesday prepared for a showdown over a bid to broadly legalize abortion, turning the country into South America's latest battleground over the long-taboo procedure.
